Hey Everyone,

I have Pro Classic Pono Tenors with a Passive Pono pick up in them. I might consider an electric Pono solid body next year ...

What kind of speakers, amps, pre-amps are people using for acoustic Tenors with pick ups installed?

I am looking to play jazz standards with my Trio/Quartet.

Would like to take a few songs with my Tenor and use an amp ... might even need the amp as a monitor and then put my uke through the system and use the FOH speakers.

I recently got a Mackie 1220 mixer and two QSC K10 powered speakers. Best sounding small PA I've ever played through. I'll probably add another speaker for a monitor one of these days.

Sidenote: you can run the QSC independently from a mixer. Since my AC-90 burnt out, I'll be using just a single K10 whenever I need an "amp" instead of a full PA. Plus, integrating is always an option.

I run my LR Baggs Five-O equipped Moore Bettah straight into the board. Getting active pickups (MISI, Baggs) is one of the best things I've done for my gear over the years. So much less to worry about. Could it sound better with a preamp? Probably. But you don't need one to get a great sound.

Brad's system is about as nice and clean as you'll find. The QSC K10's and K12's have a huge amount of headroom.

Hi !

I use analysis plus yellow oval cable to plug into Baggs Venue DI and then Roland AC-33 if I have to use battery power or Fishman Loudbox Mini if I need bigger sound. If it's a big or loud venue I go from my amp to the PA (then the amp serves as my local speaker). This setup works great with all my instruments with different pickups. Lately, I use a lot my Godin multiuke, and with this uke the Venue DI is redundant - I plug it straight to the amp.
 
Also have a Pono Pro Classic tenor I picked up in a recent trade, but no electronics installed. Am considering adding a pickup/preamp to it. Also open to suggestions. Have a Fishman Isys+ on a Lanikai tenor and find it to be okay - it's my only experience with a "wired" tenor and am open to other ideas. Do not plan to be amped very often, but having the potential seems prudent.

I use Focusrite 2i2 (brilliant interface with top class preamps and phantom power) Orange tube amp, Yamaha HS7 active monitors on stands and Ableton Live DAW. T-bone SCT800 tube mic. Sounds rich and smooth for jazz etc. and not very expensive.

P.s. Try to listen to speakers etc before you buy can be a revelation.
