As promised I've done a typical fast-edit video of the re-saw process on my 10" budget bandsaw that I use for kerfing and fine cutting abalam. The blade lasted for about 16 slices - enough to cut a couple of 6 piece sets. I would expect this from such a short, thin blade so I wasn't disappointed. Myrtle, is of course, very easy to machine; the saw would struggle with denser and less forgiving specie. The purpose of the video was to trial run small scale re-sawing using a budget machine. It works. So if all you can afford is a $250 machine, buy it, get a new blade and start re-sawing. It's my favourite workshop task...
