UKE IS SOLD.

This William King cedar/koa soprano has been my best-sounding uke, with the finest fit and finish, until I recently got my Moore Bettah custom. I’ve been very, very happy with the King, but I want to free up cash for a uke-related trip.

Built in 2009, the King has fully opened up, and its cedar top and koa back and sides yield a mature, complex tone that sounds heavenly. (The figured koa is very pretty too.) Despite its smallish Nunes shape, its projection is marvelous. It’s a pity William King isn’t making ukes anymore, because he is very highly skilled at it.

It's in EXCELLENT condition, with only slight strum marks on the right upper bout, which are only visible when the light is right. NOTE: The gloss lacquer finish has protected the soft cedar top for 5 years; there are no dings on it. The tuners are easy to adjust and accurate—the uke stays in tune for ages. It has a strap button on the bottom.

Lovely, very lovely. I'd jump on this in a minute if I wasn't already plus one on ukes.

I jumped on it when I first saw it, Eddie, and I was glad I did. I've loved it for almost two years, but I have a plan for the money.

The sound file in the first post is better, but I'm playing the uke here.

Wow.

Stunning uke, and some lovely lively playing, Ginny.

Good luck with the sale.

Oh man, how I would love this instrument. Next best thing to an MB I'm thinking.

Jon, you're right. I thought of it as the "Moore Bettah" of my collection until I got a real MB. Everything about the King is excellent, especially the elegant sound.

This is just a stunning uke, GT...does "lakesideglenn" know about this...??

That is such a beautiful, well-crafted soprano, with nice upgrades too (gloss finish, pin bridge, PEGHED tuners).

William King isn't making any more of these, unfortunately.
And his sopranos seldom come up for sale, and NEVER at this price.

This won't last long! Kings are highly desirable and hard to find. This price is a steal! Personally, I would be tempted to keep both the MB and the King! Good luck with the sale!

Tigeralum, I would not grieve to keep the Wm King, but I want to fund some important travel.

You're right, Hodge, about the rarity, quality, and low-pricity of this uke. A lot of people are listening to it.

Someone please buy this uke! I don't even play soprano, but am tempted to buy this uke. King had a great reputation, but stopped making ukes. His were among the most desirable. You will not be disappointed.

At the moment, the uke is reclining languidly in her plush case, which is open. Sunbeams from the skylight make her gleam and sparkle...wait, was that a wink?

Still available.

The uke is now resting on the couch, with song sheets strewn around her in artful disarray. Her mind, such as it is, wonders where and for whom she'll be playing next.

Hi Ginny,
Being a Wm. King, shouldn't it be a "him" and not a "her"?
Anyway, it's a real beauty!

Glenn, let's call her Wilhelmina King!

She hums, she strums, she crawls on her belly like a reptile! No, not that last part. She's definitely high class.

You will NOT believe what happened last night.

I awoke in the wee hours and went to get a little milk, but I was distracted by soft, muffled music coming from where we keep the ukes in cases. I slowly approached them and identified that it was coming from the King’s case, and at that moment, I recognized the tune as “Que Sera Sera.” I snapped open the latches but the music stopped…

Wilhelmina, my beauty, what are you trying to say?

And what did I find today...? Wilhelmina has been secretly working on a variety act to take on the road!
She wants to shake the dust of this town off her feet. I secretly taped a little of the informal rehearsal, but I had to skedaddle when I was noticed.

Who's capable of managing this shapely nyphet who sings like a dream?

Anyone should get all warm and fizzy about this ukulele after hearing Craig noodle away on it. Somebody will be buying a great instrument!

Denise, you speak from experience, with a William King in your collection. They are very fine instruments—the closest thing to a Moore Bettah that I've seen/touched/strummed, without it being a Moore Bettah.

You're darn tootin', Michael, if you understand that strange expression. It's exceptional in every way.

Ernie, I understand. I've got a big case of desire right here in my study. I'd like to spend it on a trip to visit special friends, and that's the reason I'm letting the uke go, so I can follow that desire.

When I first read this I thought "Whilhelmina" was making a new special friend and following it's desire. That almost put me over the edge on this! (dodged a bullet)

Can't believe this hasn't been snapped up by now. Willam King's ukes so rarely come up for sale, and never at this low of a price.

William King made some awesome ukes. This has to be one of the best sounding sopranos money can buy.
If I was in the market for a quality, life-time soprano, this would be sold.

OCTOBERFEST has started in Germany, and I'll join the celebration by dropping the price to $925 shipped CONUS (elsewhere by arrangement).

Wilhelmina has German relatives, and she's about to start on her second stein of beer. Sing out, girl!
