Any of you utilize any brands of freboard stickers? I find a bunch of them out there.

I am looking to start a seven-year-old on a soprano ukulele tuned like a guitar (d-g-b-e), as an early start to guitar.

Specifically, I am looking at the NeckNotes brand Guitar Trainer color coded note strips for learning guitar fretboard. Anyone know how the color coding works? I don’t seem to understand the color coding by just looking at it. I am starting to think that if I can not figure it out, then it would probably confuse a seven-year-old.

My son was 7 when he started playing guitar. His instructor recommended this one as his first.

Doesn't even have fretboard makers. Kids will learn the fret board quickly. Maybe quicker then it would take to put the stickers on. I actually think labeling might hinder learning.
These are the books he stared with.

The other thing that helped him the most was using syllables to keep time. For 4/4, he would say "caterpillar". So, for each measure, a 1/4 note would get one syllable and a whole not would get an entire Cat-er-pill-ar. Makes it much easier to keep rhythm and to go at a slower pace. For 3/4 time we use pelican.

My son is 10 now and can sight read songs without ever having heard them. He says he wants to teach guitar as a job when he is in college. Not suggesting you shouldn't start with a uke, it would be a great way to develop an interest. Just sharing a little bit of our experience.
