My granddaughter is 2 1/2 and loves music, she plays great air drums and guitar. She likes playing around with my guitar, but it's too big, so I let her use my Uke. At this age what would be the best way to teach her? My thought is to just let her get a feel for the instrument and as her little fingers are able, show her chords and teach her to strum. Any thoughts or ideas?

Buy her a Dolphin

I just bought my 4yr old GD a Dolphin. My ukulele teacher told me to start her out with rhythm, learning to strum in time, then add simple chords.

I think a Dolphin is a great idea! I see 7 year olds all day and they love glossy, cute things! (Me too!) I got myself a Green Dolphin the other day (my other is a Concert) and I am enjoying it and it is staying in tune well.

Sounds like starting with strumming and rhythm is a good idea, also.
