Hey all. I've seen quite a few people give me well wishes both here and on Facebook, so I thought I'd let you all know how we got on this weekend.

Basically, a weekend of not quite knowing what was gonna happen turned into something is definitely happening in the early hours of Monday morning. My partner Louise went into Labour roughly around 3am, I got the call to come into the hospital around half 4. Louise was doing great, things were progressing along really nicely and then slowed to a halt around 11:30, at which point Louise was getting a bit overwhelmed by the pain as well, because she was only allowed gas an air. Around 12 she got hooked up to some slightly better drugs, and they were gonna start her on some hormones to kick start things again. Her parents arrived around then too so I let Nanny-to-be hold the fort while I grabbed some lunch. Was only gone about half an hour but when I got back he was well on his way. Impeccable timing as always. Around 2:30 yesterday afternoon I witnessed the most incredible thing I will ever witness, and my son was here. We've called him Nathan Louis Michael Bridgett, and he's amazing. Just like his dad already, as well.

I know Linda chucked a couple pictures on here, but here are a few more.

Thanks again for keeping us all in your thoughts this weekend.

EDIT: The third one along is my Mum. Who refuses to be called grandma but melted at the site of him. Bless her.

Congratulations and good wishes. Parents have children. Children have staff. Your life is no longer your own.

But that's a good thing.

I was a nanny to 3 sets of twins and 2 kids of my own and I can say the best advice I could give new parents is. Let them sleep, sleep, sleep, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz It's the best thing for them the more they sleep the better they sleep :o

Thanks CJ. I have gone on about it but I am rather chuffed at the minute. Of course my better half has done all the work so far, I'm just looking forward to doing my bit.

I'm currently in Portchester, which is basically halfway across the harbour to Gosport. Ish. Used to live in Southsea though, which is where one goes to get to the beach or the Aisle.

Thanks everyone else for your well-wishes too!

I have always loved this beautiful lullaby by Trout Fishing in America. It's way more beautiful when they do it, but thanks for the opportunity to learn it. My birth day gift to sweet little Nathan. I hope you all are getting some sleep!

Wow, I was wondering why there were so many replies to a "new Uke" thread, ans boy am I glad I looked at if.

Congratulations to you and your new family
You have no idea how happy this thread made me.

You see it's 3:45 am, I could not sleep so I checked in here to see what was new.

My oldest son will be 24 tomorrow, I will be 53 in 6 days, and I just got the news that my surgery for cancer was successful (first blood test 3 months after my surgery was good).

The reason Why I'm saying all of the above, is because time goes by quickly. It is s wonderful to see you and such a beautiful baby boy at the beginning of a wonderful and exciting journey.

Enjoy every moment, it will go by quickly... So cherish each beautiful moment, savor it, and enjoy it! :old:

Thanks bird's eye,.. (Best screen name ever!) and Linda, yes lots to celebrate... But I did not mean to hijack this thread.

The pictures of the beautiful baby and a proud young parent made my day, gave me a flashback to 24 years ago. Made me feel happy for this new family.

If I'm correct Nathan is a Scorpio like me, which to be honest it rocks to be one :shaka:

i was boring poor RAB with a theory about how C and F, and maybe also G, chords, when played over and over and over, gently, can be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyy soooooooooooooooooooooooooothinggggggggg, and might that work on small babies, but i think he nodded off while i was explaining... but i've tried making a little lullaby anyway with those chords. i just yawned while listening to this, so either it works, or it's just very boring. or maybe it's just late at night.................

"little baby, go to sleep"

homemade lullaby for nathan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OE0Iop33cnU

little baby, go to sleep, yeah
little baby, go to sleep, yeah

when you're older, you can rock out
when you're older, you can scream and shout

but for now, go to sleep, yeah
but for now, go to sleep, yeah

little baby, go to sleep
little baby, go to sleep
little baby, go to sleep
little baby, go to sleep

chords are G F C C

Those of you who have me on Facebook will already know but it's time to update this thread!

On Tuesday the third of July my little family grew with the arrival of baby Isaac. We're all doing fine, and as you can see Nathan is the proudest big brother there ever was. Most likely because if you have a look back through this thread you'll see Isaac is basically a clone of him!

http://i64.tinypic.com/jgrxvm.jpg

It was the end of a long couple months as Louise and I were constantly in and out of hospital for check ups, in fact on Monday she was in there for a scan, got home and a few hours later her waters broke. The next morning, just as she'd given birth, the midwives were trying to phone her about her appointment for that day anyway! It's also slightly bittersweet as I lost my Granny exactly a week before Isaac arrived, we were all hoping that she'd hold on long enough to meet him.

So sorry about my absence over the last couple of weeks, but this one seems better behaved than the last so hopefully I'll be back in the saddle before long!
