It is with great humility that I throw my hat into the political arena and vow to bring TRUE reform and integrity to Montgomery. #ukulelesforall

Ukuleles vs. the mighty Dollar. This is a race to watch!

Ukejenny, that's great -- it probably will be the highlight of this election day, for me. (Was that faint praise? Sorry . . . )

Way to go, Ukejenny, I am so sick of this election (even a Rick Scott ad on this site, can we go anywhere for peace?). Your sign breaks the spell and put a smile on my face

How are you going to publicize this campaign? A local pol who shall remain nameless has a pink pig on all his campaign posters. Seems pretty stupid when you think of it; but every time I see that pink pig....

I'm not sure about backing your campaign. It seems there would be "strings" involved.

You can stop groaning now....

One of the quickest ways to subsidize the #ukesforall campaign would be to take the multiple ukes that UU users own and DISTRIBUTE the wealth. Yep, I guess that makes me a socialist, and means I am COMING FOR YOUR GUNS!!!!! Other than that, I thought that I would take money from the rich entitled Man and buy ukes for the haggard masses.

ORRRRRRR...... We can all keep our many ukes and hope that the effect of ukedom "trickles down".

Another way to go? I would put every able bodied man and woman to work building ukuleles for the world. We would generate jobs and revenue. That way, they can afford to buy their own uke. Of course, I will need to be named dictator over all the world so I can instate a "play ukulele or die" regime, ensuring that everyone on the planet will buy all these dang ukes we've made.

ORRRRRRR.... I can just invade and take over Cuba and invite all my uke friends to move down/up there with me. We can do whatever we please, make pilgrimages to Hawaii, Europe, Down Under, and wherever else we need to go, as Ukulele Ambassadors to the World. Instead of the United Nations, we could invite Jake, Mr. Hussey, Aldrine and all the gang to come hang with us once or twice a year. We'd call it United Ukedom. Of course, the bar would be free of charge at all these events.

Furthermore, I'm open to any suggestions from My Cabinet - which is everyone here at UU...

Maybe the National Anthem of United Ukedom could be "Tiptoe Through The Tulips". Surely there must be a recording of Tiny Tim rendering it.

Up the Ukulele! :old:

OK The #ukesforall campaign. Now the basic idea is to get more Ukes in the hands of more people. Not sure I like the idea of giving up my extra Ukes. Actually on reflection I definitely do not like the idea of giving up my extra Ukes. So here is an alternative plan.

For many years I was a Rotarian. Every week we would have a guest speaker come and talk to us about various things and we would be asked to support many good causes, which we, and lots of other Rotary clubs just like us, did as well.

So here's the plan. We go to our local Rotary club. We do our presentation on why Ukesforall is such a good idea. We make it entertaining. In fact we could take 25 to 30 cheap but reasonable Ukes and spend the session showing them how to play a couple of simple tunes. That's generally a lot of fun. At the end of the session we ask them all to buy the Ukes. Then we ask them to immediately donate them back so that we can give them to a local school together with a teaching plan for the students. The Rotary club gets the credit of course with the publicity and a big public thank you. You know what I mean.

Let's see now, we'd need a good global sponsor for the Ukes, #ukesforall campaign buttons, maybe organise some of our UU members to help with the teaching, Hmmm plenty to do.

Reminds me of the Quote “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
