Swing Uke/Guitar Duet - Rose Room - Gerald Ross (audio only)

Recorded yesterday with a 2013 Talsma Jazz Special Uke and a 2013 Martin 000-28H guitar. Audio only. A Benny Goodman standard.

This tune was the ticket into the Goodman band for guitarist Charlie Christian. At first Goodman didn't want Christian in the band. One night John Hammond snuck Christian on stage during the band's break. When Goodman saw him he called the tune "Rose Room" knowing that Christian wouldn't be able handle the chord changes and would crash and burn. When it was Charlie's turn to solo he turned one chorus into twenty. The tune lasted 40 minutes and Christian was in the band!

I love this! I do subscribe - and immediately listened three times! Would LOVE to be able to play that.... keep 'em comin'!

Thanks barefootgypsy and bonesoup. I am working on a new CD of these types of tunes. It will be a mix of uke/guitar duets (like Rose Room) and uke solos. It will be released in the first quarter of 2015.

I can't wait. This is something I'll buy the day of its release. Good luck with the recording.
