I've found my go-to favorite, most used tool in uke building isn't my fancy router or my expensive German cam-clamp (way over priced if ask me), but the humble 6 inch ruler I got at the the hardware store on sale. Glue squeeze-out scraper, small shim, fret level gauge, ear scratcher, middle finder, fine measuring device, etc. etc.

I find I use the metric side and less so the inch scale. The only thing that would make this humble little tool better would be a metric scale and a tenth of an inch scale on the other side instead of fractions.

Is this the best tool in the shop or what? Cost: $3.95 and that was bit expensive.

In the engineering world the 6" rule has long been the number one tool of machine shop engineers..Scraper, screwdriver, spatula, swarf remover, lubricator, paper knife, tea spoon..I'm told that "if you apply a drop of water into the hole" it can become a magnifying glass as well.;)...Oh yes! and it measures things.
