A string sounds odd but tuned right. Is it just me?

The A string on my Pono tenor sounds "thin" or "high" even though it is tuned properly according to the tuner. They are Worth Browns that are probably just under a year old.
I will change the A string and see if it makes a difference.
I know this is difficult to diagnose without hearing but I'm wondering how long your strings usually last.

Thanks

Yes. New strings. A year is a long time for Worths.

i found good strings worth/living water etc last about 6 months before they start to go flat
i would say new strings sounds like a good idea after that amount of time.
