I bought a bandurria when I visited the Philippines last August. It's a cool instrument, but it takes a while to tune.

Hi Daniel,
You are one of the only other folks I know with a banduria. My daughter in law, Loni, is of Filipino/Filipina descent, although she was born in Ontario. She and my son Darcy visit her relatives about once a year and a couple of years ago they brought me a banduria. I'm afraid I wimped out and tune mine as an octave guitar.

Yeah, there aren't many around. Even in the Philippines, guitars and ukuleles are way more popular.
I might try to experiment with some different tunings.

That photo was in the Philippines, probably the Banaue Rice Terraces.

Darcy and Loni also gave me this CEBU ukulele from Mactan Island in the Philippines. It is made from three coconut shells.
