I have been playing the Ukulele for a little over two years now, and I'm looking to start learning a new instrument. I have always been interested in the bass so it sounded like prime timing to start getting into it now. For the moment, i have been set on getting the SX Ursa 3 (http://www.rondomusic.com/spj62vwh.html) but I am open to suggestions for a different beginner bass under $200. I was wondering what techniques and styles used on the uke I could pass on and also use on the bass?

I have no experience with Rondo basses but for under $200 you could try Ibanez, Yamaha, Squier ... I'd suggest not buying online but trying out which one feels best in your hands.

Some players pluck with all four fingers, including the thumb. I tend to rest my thumb on either the lowest string or a pickup, and pluck with the index and middle finger.

Good luck! Bass is a fun instrument, for sure :)
