Hey guys,

I've bought an unfinished soprano uke from local luthier for almost nothing. Mahogany back and sides, spruce top. Plays great but I'm used to more mellow sound that I hopefuly can achieve by changing the strings. What would you recommend? Curently running Aquila nylgut strings.

Thanks,
Petr

Give Worth browns a try. I have a spruce top concert, have tried several strings, and they're the deal. If you find you don't like 'em, you can try something else ;)

I have spruce top soprano and love Worth CLs on it. Nice and warm with volume.

Ha! I sometimes wish you could "like" posts here. Give Worths a try! Clear and brown. It's been a while since I put clears on my spruce top concert, but they are likely the next set that will go on.

I have a uke with a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides that was just a bit too harsh. I just put on some Aquila Super Nylgut strings on it and it's sounds bright but not harsh. The Super Nyguts are the ones in the black packaging.
