I bought this book http://www.danielho.com/html/polanibook.html
when I was in Honolulu.
I notice from the album that he uses Low G tuning so I tried to practise on my Kala with low G. It just doesn't sound right.
I switched to the Kaneila's with high G and sounds more in line with his album. (at least the CEA strings)
I remember reading somewhere that Daniel Ho uses Low G .
Since none of the song in this book indicate which tuning he uses. Can I just play at any tuning (High or Low G?)
I also remember reading a thread in this forum with the same question and someone said he will email Daniel Ho.
Does any of you remember what was Daniel Ho recommendation?
If it sounds good in high G tuning, should I just stick with it?

There was a discussion about it here that indicates the book is for low G.

Thanks for the quick reference. I am stubone on this one piece - Ho'omaika'i - may be I just stick with the high G. LOL
You mean the entire book is on low G? Hmmmmm
What about his Pineapple Mango?

I've taken classes from Daniel - it is definitely low G.

Daniel played with low G when I played with him. His new custom KoAloha is incredible. He was playing with Ph.d strings. Now selling his own name strings which I believe are still PhDs.
