I was watching a video by UU member Pabrizzer where he was reviewing a Kala KA-TEM. He made note of the unusually small sound hole as well as the small size of the uke. See here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQJ8dhKSd44

I then watched another you tube clip of the same model instrument and noted it had a considerably wider sound hole and larger body. See here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duv7sRtoIB4

Does Kala use different factories (or plans) to build their ukes? Or are we looking at the older model and the newer model?

My first Uke was a Kala TEM It looks like the one in the 2nd video. Just about any shop that sells Kala will have one or two and everyone I have seen is like the 2nd video. I wonder if Pabrizzer had an earlier prototype model?

Kala has changed the tem/teme/teme3 a couple times so that they are kinda all mixed up.
Also, they changed the shape on some of the electrified ones, and maybe some of them didn't get cut for electronics?
Some have a back binding, some do not.
Some have a butt seam binding, some do not.
Some have the larger hole, some have the smaller hole.
Some are more snowman, some are more pear.
Some of the electrics have the jack in the center butt, some have them on the side of the lower bout.

The one in the video(smaller hole/more pear shape) is different from the one in the pictures
The video explains some of the changes at the time of the filming.
