What a difference. The original black strings in reentrant tuning compared to standard Baritone tuning and the Lavas is like night and day. The original strings sounded fine but are no match tone wise or volume wise for the Lavas. There is some squeaking from the two wound strings that I must work upon.

peter i have to ask how the long neck tenor plays, as a baritone. i had emailed the factory, and the lady asked casey, and he felt the long neck tenor should not be tuned as a baritone. i would assume this is because of small body size.
please tell all.

I like the Lavas much more than the Kamaka strings on my pineapple; I just put them on a couple days ago. There is a similarity in sound from both on a soprano (traditional, punchy, percussive), but there's more volume from the Lavas, that's for sure. The Kamaka strings really seem to muffle the instruments, but I've only tried out Kamaka's soprano scale ukes.
