WE ARE LOOKING VOLUNTEERS!
The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society Board of Directors is proud to
announce our Ukulele Lending Library Program.
This program is designed to give back to our communities by
introducing a new innovative library program to 19 Pinellas Library
Branches and 10 Hillsborough Branches.
The program has two components: First, from our non-profit funds we
are donating 50 ukulele packages. Each package will have a ukulele,
tuner, ukulele gig bag and instructional book.
The second component is our free beginner workshop program to be
held at the library branches. We are asking for volunteers to provide
1 hour workshops. We will schedule an instructor "train the trainer"
class in April and roll out the program in May. The workshops will
have a standard beginner course outline, handouts, loaner ukuleles and
should be a lot of fun!
The workshops will be held weeknights at the local branches.
To those members interested in becoming a volunteer instructor,
please make sure you meet the following criteria:
1) Able to play all the basic ukulele chords.
2) Have a good speaking voice and a willingness to instruct.
3) Can sing and play "Jambalaya" and "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands"
4) Can commit to instructing workshops at different library branches.
We are looking for ukulele donations. Do you still have the first
ukulele you bought when you starting playing? Maybe you have a closet
full you don't use? We can use donated ukuleles as extras for the
workshops.
The goal of this TBUS library lending program is to give back to our
communities and to increase public awareness and membership in our
club.
TBUS provides a place for ukulele players of all levels to
perform together in a supportive environment. We offer performance
and educational opportunities for our members as well as concerts,
workshops and other special events.
We hope you will consider volunteering your time and talent to help
make this program a success.
Thank You!
