i have a cheap "kona" uke and i am wondering if it would be good to replace the strings that it came with.

i'm looking for advice on brands, etc.

More that likely the responce will be....
get a bunch of different strings and try them out till YOU find the ones that sound/feel right to you, it's your fingers and ears that have to be happy.

We all go thru this with every new Ukulele.

You can try D'Addario, Worth, Aquilla and there are others too, it seems these are the major players in the Uke string world.

Good luck and have fun with the search...
some strings you will not like at all on some Ukes, I don't care for Aquillas on my Kala KA-S Soprano but really like them on my KA-T Tenor and love them on my Pono Soprano.
Remember it will take a couple weeks for the strings to feel/sound like they should so give them alittle time before you discount a string brand/type.
