Hey everyone. I dropped into a local music shop and spotted the new (at least to me) Kala 5-string cedar-topped tenor. I have the 4-string version and consider it one of the great bargains in tenors. This 5-string sounded tremendous, too. I might have to start saving my pennies.

Check it out:

You might wish to consider the Ohana 5-string also. It is made of all-solid wood and the price is similar to the Kala.

Thanks, Equina. That Ohana looks sweet too.

Tommy, I have it and it is a joy to play!!! Go for it, man.

Thanks Jagadeesh. It's definitely on my radar ... at least until UAS pulls me in another direction.:D

I played one in a store in the Twin Cities today and found the sound to be very shallow. It also buzzed. Be sure to check out my thread in Ukulele Reviews titled "Konsidering a Kala?" There is information there you need to see.
