Yes and in the photo I say, they were all the 8 string variety. Very cool stuff, but I think this record can be beaten. I say we meet up somewhere and go for at least 6 to 7 thousand folks.

Here's one of the photos I saw on Facebook.

And I think two or more makes a Ukulele Orchestra.

Seems to me like a uke company must have backed the effort since everyone of the ukes in that photo are pretty much the same.

It looks like the Los Angeles Uke Expo at the Japanese American Cultural Center in Downtown Little Tokyo has their work cut out for them this Saturday, April 18 at 10:30 am. Last year in an attempt to break the Japanese held Guinness record of 2134, we only came up with about 1070 or so, then shortly after, England took the record with 2,370. I'm amazed French Polynesia got 4,750 when L.A. couldn't get even close.

But, after saying that, I feel very bad that I can't make the record attempt this year, because the uke group I'm with, The CC Strummers out of the Culver City Senior Center, has been invited at 1 PM to open the 1st annual Santa Monica Ukulele Festival at Santa Monica High school to benefit their music department, and I'm the sole uke bass player (our other bass player has a prior commitment), so no way am I going to be late for that.
