Sort of a grim subject line....but not so grim is the art project that I'm imagining.
I would like to use wood from the body of a uke that...well, that did not quite make it as a uke. Ideally I'd like to use some curly koa and some curly mango but if I can't find any ukes that didn't make the grade, perhaps I can buy some pieces of the thin wood you use to craft the uke body.
Maybe I'm a bit mad here thinking I might be able to purchase a uke corpse from a luthier. And it might be more realistic to buy some wood from a uke maker....that said, I'd prefer the uke shape to just a rectanger piece of wood.
My art project is still just a concept at this point. Determining whether I can find the necessary wood is the first step towards taking this from an abstract idea to the start of a piece of art.
thanks in advance for any suggestions or helpful comments.
