I'm just starting out trying my hand at some cigar box or buscuit tin ukes on a tight budget. Can anyone in the UK recommend a saw for cutting fret wire slots? There's loads of fine saws on ebay but none state the kerf.

I did my first dozen ukes with a junior hack saw blade...and I get my fine fretwire from a guy called
Snowcouldren on eBay

Zona *thick* kerf dovetail saw, the cheapest I know of and very good. Zona do a thinner one, but thick kerf is the right version.

Snowcauldron is your man for fret wire, 2 x 1ft lengths will do a soprano, 3 for a tenor. You want the thin stuff, which I think he describes as mandolin/banjo.

Have ordered a dovetail saw, and happen to have already ordered the fretwire from snowcauldron yesterday.

I have the thicker Zona
