FS: Mele Braddah Mahogany Soprano with case

I have a Mele Braddah mahogany soprano for sale. Ebony fingerboard, bridge and ebony binding. Grover tuners work and hold well. Gosh think it even has the original Hilo strings! No major dings or chips or scratches. There is some strum wear I tried to capture in the photo, but didn't show up very well, but is there. The back has some white marks (not scratches) that would probably rub out if someone wanted to put the time in. Back side is pretty clean besides that. Neck is tight to body. Comes with original case in very good condition. Latches have some light rust, but work fine.

Hello Mike,

I've been looking at a few Timms ukuleles and was getting ready to pull the trigger and now this... A quick view of their history has peaked my interest as they are based on similar designs. That headstock overlay and fretboard is sure pretty. Please consider me in the
queue for purchase I'm interested.

Two questions:

How would you compare this to your in Timms sound and weight?

Picture #3 in post #2 It appears the binding is cracked I see a dark line running through the shine. Can you confirm this if this is or isn't a small crack? Through the finish or the whole binding?

Compared to the Timms, it's brighter in sound. Not overly so, but just in a side by side way. If I was looking to warm it up maybe some Worths med browns or similar. Has good volume, but could use new strings as I think it still has the originals on it. Weight wise I believe Mele is lighter in feel at least. Never put either on a scale, but in hand feels lighter. Some of this maybe the Mele is head light compared to the Timms. I know the tuners in the Mele are lighter in weight as Timms uses a nicer tuner, but those weights abit more.
The ebony fretboard has a nice streaked pattern to it. It's not a Timms, but for 'bout 1/2 the cost it's a pretty darn good sounding, looking soprano. I'm on the road at the momment and had my girl check the binding as I'd never noticed anything there before. She says it's might be a finish crack at most, but can't feel anything with a rub of the finger over it. She said it appeared the photo just enhanced the area more than anything that was actually there. I'll be home Friday and will take a look.

Do you have any idea how old this is?

So I've been told......Mele started with the Braddah name in 1995 and stopped using it around 2003. I've owed it for around 10 years and bought it from the seller (who said he bought it Hawaii) who had owed it for 5 or 6 yrs. Can't remember if he had purchased new or used. Best guess would be around 15 yrs give or take a few....

There was question about the binding in previous photos. Attached a better one to show the area. Looks like maybe it wasn't sanded smooth before adding the finish coat. There is no crack in the finish and can not feel anything w/ finger.
