question about room humidifiers

The humidifier I have is very loud. I can actually hear it all over the house. I don't mind if one makes a little noise - I can turn it off while I'm playing - but I'd rather not hear it in the next room.

My main question is: Are there any that will switch on and off depending on the current humidity in the room, or are they either all on or all off? It seems that if it didn't run while the moisture level was high enough it wouldn't need to be refilled as often.

And please let me know if you think your humidifier is just great. I'm open to suggestions.

Most newer ones will turn off once you get to the level you want. Google the user manual and that should tell you.

I used this one this winter, but it does not have auto off. http://www.amazon.com/Honeywell-Germ-Free-Humidifier-HCM-350/dp/B002QAYJPO It has 3 speeds and it relatively quiet.
