Triplet strum

Was just playing a song with some triplets and was wondering how most folks did them: three finger down stroke or two down and one up?

Two down, one up. Not sure 3/4 of a fan stroke would give you quite the same effect. Often, I'll change up the tempo and add an extra strum to a triplet
