Good for those in the US (and elsewhere the AUD dropped against) who want a Scott Wise or Barron River custom, but certainly bad for Australians who want to buy outside of the country. I don't have many ukes locally, but there are lots of US dealers. I don't have to look outside the country for a nice uke.

Thanks for the thread Bill. Excellent points and I guess I'm living proof: have been sorely tempted by a uke on the marketplace but after speaking the builder, the quote I received for a custom spec new instrument was actually less - far less - than the used one FS. So yeah, the choice was easy to make. And I agree, the options in ukuleles is mindboggling these days. Ten years ago there were painted mahalos.
