I was superglueing some loose frets and got a spot of glue on the neck from a clamp, scratched at it a bit too enthusiatically, and have stupidly gone through to the wood.

It's a 60s Japanese mahogany uke - not sure what kind of varnish that would have been.

Can I stain it and put a spot of lacquer/ varnish over it over it, and buff it smooth?

Any suggestions?

No idea what finish they used....so I'd suggest shellac which sticks to almost everything. Or you could drop fill it with super glue...medium thick stuff.
Or just leave it and call it wear and tear from all your playing

Thanks.
I've just bought the following:
- a 10ml sampler of Littlefair's Red Mahogany Water Based Wood Stain / Dye
- 125ml of Rustins French Polish (shellac)
- 3x sheets 3M - WET AND DRY SANDPAPER MICRO FINE P1500
about £8 total cost.
