Ok, here's the deal:

I am German but I do not like the language, I prefer English to it.

BUT I want you to cover any song from Germany you want. (not necessarily in German)

There is no specific time frame (like 60's or 80's).

It's not about the "correctness" of the lyrics. Nor do you have to play it in the style as the original, feel free to change it into something new!

post as many entrys as you want.

must involve Ukulele.

Put the phrase "Ohne Musik wäre das Leben ein Irrtum" (owna moosic ware dus laiban In earrtoom, that's at least close to the German sound) into the beginning (It means: without music life would be a mistake)

PRIZE: A song/tune, whether composed by me or a cover (what you prefer) on any of my instruments. (in case you choose a composition, I'm gonna do one especially for you!)

Deadline: Sunday, 12th of April, 6pm CET

OK, that's it (I hope someone is participating^^)

*"Modern Talking" and "Tokyo Hotel" do not count*:stop:;)

The original version by Georg Danzer is Austrian, I had to change the lyrics a bit to put it into my native high German. I usually do not sing German songs neither...

One more, an instrumental version of Reinhard Mey's Über den Wolken.

haha, somehow I knew WS64 would post as the first one^^

deach: yes! and many others too, there's a whole bunch of good German musicians;)

HoldinCoffee: I know man:D

btw, I'm gonna try to put all entries to the first post, but I won't be around on the weekend, so no worries, it's gonna be done later!

Oh, and I want a phrase for the beginning, like: "Ohne Musik wäre das Leben ein Irrtum" (that's by Nietzsche, it means: without music, life would be a mistake. and in the whole quote he also says nothing is as sweet as the sound of a bagpipe!)

I'm trying to think of ANY German songs I know. Falco were Austrian, right, so Rock Me Amadeus is out? Boney M were formed in Germany.....

Oh, man! No fair.

I already exhausted my German tune repertoire with Kraftwerks Model and THAT song by Nena

Hang on, isn't Bert Kaempfert German? Let me have a think about this....

I really like both^^ Oh man, I'm so curious about the songs you guys gonna do! because there's a whole lot of German music I'd never even think about that you might know and cover!

Like Bert Kaempfert, haha! I think I'm gonna see all that music in a new light, played and interpreted on Uke...

"Da Da Da" by Trio? (Made popular by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_s5-R_JE4c ) A few verses of English and one line of German repeated ad nauseum...you don't even have to be able to sing well!:

Also Peter Schilling and his awesome '80s hit "Major Tom (Coming Home)":
