Hi all,

Question for anyone with a Martin C1K.

If you remove the open geared tuners, would there be extra holes in the uke besides the larger ones where the bushings sit? Tiny holes you wouldn't need for, say, sealed geared tuners...

Thinking of buying a C1K later this year, but the first thing I'd do is replace the tuners and strings. I really like sealed gears like the Mainlands can have. But I'm not thrilled about the idea of extra tiny drilled holes, so thought I'd ask here. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks!

there are holes where the the tuners are screwed to the headstock, but might be covered or used by the screws for the sealed gears. I tried other strings on my C1K and Martins sound the best. Besides that the tuners worked great too! But, if you must, you can probably sell those nice Grover tuners easily.

Thanks, that's exactly what I meant - the mounting holes. I've used those Grovers before, and they do work well. I just can't get past the tactile feel of them.
