My music teacher's best friend works for Yamaha as a professional luthier. He sets up instruments for Yamaha-sponsored musicians (in other works, rock stars) and also builds some in instruments. He played a Timms that I gifted to my teacher and couldn't put it down. He was effusive in his admiration of this killer little soprano. And given the dollar's strength right now, it's a veritable bargain!

Congrats! One can't go wrong with a Timms soprano. I truly love mine!

Congrats, Jude! I'm glad you bought it, because I kept staring at it. (And I just bought a high end tenor, I really should not buy anything else for a while!) Hope we'll get a NUD from you when it arrives! :)

Congrats. Don't be afraid to experiment with strings. I think the stock strings are too strident sounding.

What did you put on yours, Eddie?

I've tried a couple and so far Fremont Blacklines sound best to my ear. I plan to try Aquila Red, Southcoast Mediums and Living Water in due time.

I like Worth browns on mine to soften and warm it a bit

Worth Browns also sound great on my KoAloha soprano. It definitely reduces some of the twang.

Congrats on the new Timms! I like the raspy sound of the Aquilas. Might go with the slightly mellower super nylguts next time. I like'em chunky.
