Bass tuned to G C E A

Can you tune a bass to G C E A, or can I get someone to build me one with a stronger neck to take the pressure of the stretch to tune it this way. Imam too long in the tooth to learn different strings, and I still want to play my Tenor

The first bass I built with the thick polyurethane strings was tuned to GCEA, but an octave down. Works fine.

bass is entirely a pickng instrument. any chords played will be almost always on the 2 top strings only.

Learning 4ths tuning isn't difficult and once learned allows you to play pretty much any scale (major or minor) using the same fingering. To play by ear all you have to do is identify you key (major or minor), find a proper position and go. Makes bass very easy for on the fly transposing.
