looking at kanilea as an example and they have their standard fare, and also 'super' with a wider and therefore more voluminous body.
is there any advantage to larger body size, presumably deeper resonance, any perceived disadvantage, your thoughts on this issue.

It's discussed here: http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?48557-What-is-a-quot-Super-Tenor-quot-uke

The meaning of 'super' varies with the maker. For some, it's the next-size-up neck on a standard body; for others, it's vice-versa, the next-size-up body on a standard neck. The bigger body will likely have more resonance and volume. Either way, it's a wee bit more to schlep around, eh?

yeah... with kanilea the super soprano looks appealing where the larger sizes start to look unhandy.
