Youtube video plug-in

Can we get the youtube video plug-in so the youtube videos can be embedded in the posts. That way we don't have to open up another window for youtube?

I don't know how it works but wouldn't this eat up quite a bit of bandwith? If not then I guess this would be convenient but I don't mind that the video opens in it's own window.

Sort of along the same topic of bandwith. Maybe Ryan can reply. But if a post has pics in it and someone quotes the post and the pics show up again, does this use multiple bandwith resources to display the pics twice? And I think sometimes the pics get quoted multiple times in a post. I usually go in and delete the unnecessary parts of the quote when replying but always wondered about this whole bandwith or storage space issue.

I think the used bandwidth comes from the place where the image is hosted rather than the place it's shown. I'm pretty sure the same thing is true with YouTube videos.

Images on the same page will only be downloaded once. After that, the computer will access it in it's own cache. So multiple quoting it won't make any difference to bandwidth, it's just annoying.

Sometimes if coding is allowed then you can just embed it to your post. Usually have to aprove HTML coding.

Ya, on my local motorcycle forum we just use the tags
[youtube] & [/youtube] and then whatever is after the equals sign in the youtube address. I think it's easy to post videos, neat, and looks really clean compared to hyperlinks.

Example would be:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP-WhHGt_u8

Posted as:
[youtube]AP-WhHGt_u8[/youtube]

and the video would be right here on the page.

Harmony Central's forums have a YouTube bbcode for embedding videos. It's really nice since folks no longer have to click-through when we're discussing performances.

No, there would be no bandwidth issues for UU. The video is embedded and the stream comes from YouTube.com.
