Not only a uke newbie question, but a music newbie question...which "C" note on the uke is considered "middle C" for notation purposes? Is it the second string open, or first string fifth fret? Or neither?

If your Uke is tuned GCEA, it's #3 open. :old:

Thanks...I think I meant #3...I keep forgetting that you count from the bottom up, not the top down.

One day I'll learn.

A band (mostly) instrument somewhat smaller than a tuba. Usually it has four valves, and it plays (really cool) counter melody. I really enjoyed playing it high school, and I quit a few years ago when my embouchure became too weak (old) to play the high notes.

I was very, very sad to let it go. I bought a baritone horn to take it's place, but it just ain't the same. :old:
