They say a quality custom uke deserves a quality custom strap, no? My pending Hoffmann custom will have a pickup jack, no button on heel, so I am looking at getting a quality mandolin strap that will be able to go around a pickup and connect around the headstock. Leaning towards the Bailey strap http://www.thebaileystrap.com but would love any other recommendations as well.

I dunno if I like the way those cinch the end pin. That leather bead thing.. I think will rub a spot on the finish over time.
I could be wrong though.

For comfort... I really like the the neotech strap. It's not fancy, but it's very adjustable, and super comfy.

One nice thing about it, is they sell extra ends, so you only need one strap for all your ukes. It clips in to ends you can leave on the uke. Also, the bits have fuzzy stuff on anything that would touch the uke, so you don't have to worry about rub.

Thanks spook! I should have added that I do already own an uke leash, and just ordered a button adaptor to go with it, more so for another uke but I can switch off as needed. Appreciate the comment on the leather beaded ends, since it's leather I think it should be ok with finish but it's worth asking.

I asked Jerry to put a bone strap button on my ML tenor and ordered custom leather straps from Italia Straps ( http://www.italiastraps.com/ ). I had them use the 1 inch wide section of their standard straps, to a certain length with 3 attachment positions on both ends. They have a wide range of colour choices/combinations (top/bottom). The only problem was that the leather is a bit thick to attach to the pickup pin end. I used my dremel to grind the inside to a thinner dimension. They are amazingly soft leather and look and feel quality. Put your name on their mailing list as they run 2 for the price of one very often.

PS. before I ordered custom ones from them I used a spare one of theirs that I already owned. I had one end folded over and attached to itself to create a loop. I then used a planet waves attachment that went around the headstock just above the nut. I felt this was a bit wide for a Uke so I ordered the custom 1 inch wide ones for all my Ukes.
