I was surfin' thru eBay and came across this animal a Ukrainian 4 string Domra Prima. Anyone here familiar with this instrument?
I wonder how this thing would sound tuned to low G.

I have some Domras (and Balalaikas): http://ws64.com/Pictures/Instruments/Pix/russian.jpg
I never knew what to do with them. The 4-string Domra right now is tuned like a mandolin, but a mandolin sounds way better...

That's pretty nifty. Personally, though, I'm looking at a Sanshin (three-string from Okinawa).

No matter what you call it, it should make for an interesting uke accompaniment. :nana:

My mom used to have a Shamisen the Japanese version of the Sanshin except the Japanese use cat belly skin instead of snake skin. My mom had it hanging on the wall for decoration and I always felt sorry for the cat cause you could see the kitty nipples in the hide.:confused::(
