Hey ukuleleunderground!

I've been playing the baritone for about half a year, coming off of the guitar for 3 years. I like the ukulele more though.

should I get new strings and tune my baritone to the key of C or just leave them at the key of G, and get a new uke?

I've never heard the key of C in person on a baritone, does anyone have and suggestions?

I'd probably get a tenor 4 or 6 string if i did get a new one.

My concern would be there would be too much tension on the bridge with the strings wound that tight. A soprano tuned to GCEA is one thing--it's lower than the D tuning and so not a problem. The jump from DGBE to GCEA is much greater, and I'd have to defer to someone with more expertise to say whether or not a change of strings would make the leap.

This thread may be of help . . .

Don't forget to keep that G string from the DGBE set in case you want to tune your bari to GCEA instead of gCEA.

Thanks for the advice .

The thread is very helpful kanaka.
