Wound C and E

I was teaching a beginner Uke class tonight and on of the starters had an inexpexsive concert (15" scale) uke with a wound C and E string. It was realy out of balance with the nylon G and A. Has anyone every heard of strings like that? She said previously she took lessons from a guitar instructor. I wonder if he didn't cobble that together from some nylon guitar stings he had laying around.

Those Kala Reds have a wound C and E string.

Do you mean wound, as in steel? Because those Kala Reds are wound nylon strings.
