hello everyone,
was looking through some youtube videos and found this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvM9RDRqkMI
it's probably from someone around here and it's awesome

now, to the question.. I have no clue how he strum the ukulele through the verse but it sounds great, tried searching the forum but with no luck, anyone got some spare minutes to help me with this?

thanks!

sounds like the verse strumming is based on a regular dxuudu strumming (d=down, u=up, x=chunk), with accents/emphasis on certain downs or ups, and sometimes skipping some. haha, basically just dxuudu fast.

For the most part, though, ska is played all up strums during verses (and choruses, for traditional ska).

Hi, I play it a bit different to to guy in the video, i *think* the way i play it is a bit closer to the original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gql9220Qon8)

so i play

Mute, Down, Up, Mute, Up, Up

To Mute just cover all of the strings but dont put any pressure on them, or you can just chunk instead

If you manage to get the sutrmming down ok, to give a it more upbeat ska feel on the last 2 'ups' right after you strum up cover the strings, like you do to mute them, right after you strum up to stop the chords ringing out.

I don't think ive explained that very well, if you have any questions just ask;)

Do you mean to cover the strings after strumming with the right hand (the strumming hand) or the left one?

thanks for the answers!
