Recently bought a used Kala KA-SMHS. It's in excellent condition and with new strings sounds great. I'm just curious when it might have been built. Serial number is 1203. I e-mailed Kala's customer service but haven't received a reply.
How old is this Kala uke?

I have a Kala KA-TEM purchased in April, 2010, serial no. 909. I bought another Kala tenor in January, 2013 and it had a different label with no serial number, so I'd guess yours is pre-2013.
I don't know what the numbers mean. Maybe the different models were numbered separately. Mine can't be 909th uke made by Kala.

909 I think is Sept 09.
If it doesn't have a number, I think it means it's a second. Sometimes seconds are stamped on the back of the headstock.
