hi folks, I wondered if anyone gets static build up on an instrument? when I am wet sanding lacquer I squeegee the water off then wipe it with a cotton cloth so I can see what I've done. if I wipe to fast I can hear it crackling. does any one know how to avoid it or to remove it once its there? thanks, mark gasser.

Maybe spray your cloth with that static guard spray?? I don't know what's in that stuff so be careful with finishes if it contains silicones

You might try a grounding wrist strap as used in electronics, but I can't say it won't be a nuisance.

I have never used so much water that I needed a squeegee. Not saying it wouldn't be ok but that much water wouldn't work for me.
