Guys,

Looking for a cantabile arrangement of Sir Roger de Coverly.

Or, alternatively, what key should I pitch it in to roll my own for C-reentrant tuning?

Thanks

Normally played in G.

Search ABC music and you'll get versions in D and G. D is OK if you're using linear tuning as it goes down to A. If you're in reentrant tuning, the range is D to a' so will be playable on a soprano in C or D tuning. You could transpose down a tone to F if you wish.

Here's a link for a version in G http://abcnotation.com/tunePage?a=thesession.org/tunes/1196.no-ext/0001

What a coincidence, I'm learning Sir Roger, too. Or maybe it's not so much of a coincidence, this being the season to start rehearsing productions of A Christmas Carol! I found this tab, which is for guitar but conveniently uses only the 4 highest-pitched strings ;-)

The tab is not re-entrant, so you'd need to fudge those three lowest notes. At least it's a place to start.

Well I did up a version. If I could figure out how I'd upload it . . . it's reasonably playable cantabile, but I'm sure as I play with it I'll figure out better ways to do things
