MGM was selling these 5 or 6 years ago and they FLEW off the shelf.
Here's his demo : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3PpDgvrKIg
The story from MGM was this was Koa that was slated for use in Larivee 10K models, but they gave up on Ukes, and Kala ended up with the Koa.
Im selling most of my Sopranos so this one is looking for a new home.
Bound Ebony fretboard and nut. Flamy maple-bound top and back. One-piece top and back. This koa is so amazing that my camera cant begin to capture all the figuring and flame. I have tried to find any flaws-all I can come up with is some light playing wear on the fretboard. $400 incl Oahu hard case, insurance and shipping to Lower 48 states only. Paypal 'gift' or otherwise you pay the fees. Check or postal Money order also accepted(will ship after it clears)This one is AS-NEW

This is one of the most interesting contemporary ukes I've ever seen. When was it built? Did Kala 'build' them in China?

Not a lot of first hand information, but I have gleaned that they were built around 2010-I'm assuming in China.
