I want to surprise my brother with a ukulele for his birthday in August, but unfortunately my budget is about $50-60. He'll definitely be a beginner so this will be a chance for him to try the uke and see if it sticks. He's played my Fluke and really enjoyed it, but he hasn't a clue about strumming, chords, etc. so this will need to be a beginner uke in case he doesn't care for uke after all.

I guess I'm looking for a concert or tenor for him. Does anybody have anything available in this price range at the moment? If it's used, that's just fine! I just want for it to still be present-quality, i.e. without huge scratches or flaws.

you can get a brand new Makala concert uke for around that price. :)

Thanks so much! I think a local shop might (miraculously) have a Makala tenor I can test for sound quality. I'll probably get him a concert or sop.
