I posted this question before but I think the thread title was a little obscure. So ere it is:
Anybody own know about like hate this insturment. I have read mixed reviews, one was brutal.
The Naomi and the SideKick (which I have) look like they probably come from the same factory (headstock and coloring are different).
I have nothing but good to say about mine. It's light, tuned up easy and gets a lot of play. I put Aquila CGDA strings and a Deering bridge on mine, plus lowered the action at the nut end. It plays and sounds lighter than my Deering banjo uke, but the size/weight differences (Deering is 4 times heavier with an 11 inch head) make that an expected situation. I find that I tend to grab the SideKick more often than the Deering, especially when just chilling in the back yard.
As with any banjo uke, recommend folk learn about banjo tuning and maintenance (Deering has great videos) in order ti get the most out of the instrument.
