I haven't used it for back and sides, but I have used it for fingerboard and binding. It seems very similar to cocobolo. Heavy, oily, fairly low damping, and smells similar. Ziricote is lighter weight and a bit higher damping, IME. I'd expect some tonal difference between the two, at least if your playing position doesn't prevent the back from vibrating anyway.
