my mum wondered if songs about tigers would be a good uke-ing idea

i thought about having tigers as the theme for my next season - but i'm not sure there are enough songs about tigers, or that mention tiger in the title or lyrics, or indeed are by a band with the word tiger in their name, to keep a whole season going

but if anyone wants to do a tiger song, and bring it here

anytime

just for kicks

please do!

i can think of a couple of songs i fancy covering, but i'm kicking off with a homemade effort

"tigers"

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
Ride the Tiger - Jefferson Starship
Hunting Tigers Out in "Indiah" - Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band
Tiger in a Spotlight - Emerson Lake & Palmer
Tiger Rag ("Hold that tiger") - Original Dixieland Jazz Band

Getting more obscure, a search of my iTunes library pulls up:
Paper Tigers - Caesars
Plain Tiger - Cocteau Twins
Star Tiger Star Ariel - Delays
Year of the Tiger - St. Vincent
Tigermoth - Steve Hackett
Tissue Tigers - XTC

I liked your tune Lynda and I quite like tigers too. My very first Batik is of a tiger. I'll put a pic up soon! Perhaps I'll take a swipe on my own tiger song :)
i wanna see the batik and i wanna hear the song, if you do one!

An original inspired by my little nephew's drawing of a black tiger...

The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of springs
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is I'm the only one

The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers are wonderful chaps
They're loaded with vim and with vigor
They love to leap in your laps
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is I'm the only one.

Tiggers are wonderful fellahs.
Tiggers are awfully sweet.
Everyone elses is jealous,
And thats why I repeat...

The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Are Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of springs
They're bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!
But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers

Yes, I'm the only one
(GRRrrrrrr...) ooOOoooOOooooOOOO!!!

And of course, the one and only Tiger Feet by Mud. Never seen it done on a uke, but it sounds right up BEV's street...

We need a contribution from We Tigers. That must count by definition
i was thinking the same thing!

Little Black Sambo - Tiger Rag

A Classic Children's Story for Diwali, The Indian Festival of Lights.

From one of the first Seasons I participated in:

An Effervescing Elephant
with tiny eyes and great big trunk
once whispered to the tiny ear
the ear of one inferior
that by next June he'd die, oh yeah!
because the tiger would roam.
The little one said: "Oh my goodness I must stay at home!
and every time I hear a growl
I'll know the tiger's on the prowl
and I'll be really safe, you know
the elephant he told me so."
Everyone was nervy, oh yeah!
and the message was spread
to zebra, mongoose, and the dirty hippopotamus
who wallowed in the mud and chewed
his spicy hippo-plankton food
and tended to ignore the word
preferring to survey a herd
of stupid water bison, oh yeah!
And all the jungle took fright,
and ran around for all the day and the night
but all in vain, because, you see,
the tiger came and said: "Who me?!
You know, I wouldn't hurt not one of you.
I'd much prefer something to chew
and you're all to scant." oh yeah!
He ate the Elephant
