Hi Folks,

I was just watching some videos with the Tahitian ukulele, and I was wondering if there's a way to get that higher octave on the C and E strings on a regular 4-string uke.

To be clear, instead of a re-entrant uke with 4 strings tuned G4-C4-E4-A4, and it seems that the Tahitian ukes are tuned but with 8 strings as G3-C5-E5-A4.

I want to try the G3-C5-E5-A4 tuning on a 4-string uke, preferably tenor scale of 17".

Has anyone tried this before?

Are there strings sets available?

If not, Can you recommend a starting point for figuring out the strings?

My UAS finds are currently depleted so buying a Tahitian uke right now is not an option, and I'd like to explore that sound (even in single string courses) to see if it's worth thinking about getting a Tahitian uke.

Thanks in advance for any info or suggestions that you can provide. :)

Really? no info to share?

I'm quite surprised that nobody that's seen this thread has any idea where to start looking.

I guess I'm gonna be the maverick once again...

Warning - newbie alert.

There is some info here,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tahitian_ukulele

Which suggests 'fishing line' of around '30-60lb'.
However, it says that it is constructed using an open backed reversed cone shaped sound 'hole', which I imagine would give a totally different sound from a normal 'box' with an open sound hole.
