If you are selling yourself as an 'expert' you have to stand pretty naked as you invite 'critique' from your peers. You never develop a thick skin and are always sensitive to the sharp pencil that is applied by your contemporaries.
So it is with some surprise that the only adverse comment from those of my peers who have reviewed my DVD so far was - "You might want to smile more often..." I think they must have missed the bloopers - 'barrel bolt' instead of 'barrel nut' or the part where I mistakenly gauged from a rough sawn side instead of the planed face, or my reference to 'file' instead of 'rasp'! I must remember next time (DVD on either tool making for luthiers or hand bending) to look at the day's shoot before I go off set thinking about other things!
Peer review is important so keep posting your builds if you have a genuine desire for improvement advice. Show it to your mother if you just want praise....
