Hey all,

I have seen "Lmfd" or some combo of those letters one here several times now in reference to some ukulele. Who makes these and what does the LMFD or whatever it is stand for?

Thanks,

Trevor

Guess I'll be the one who spoils it, that's the initials of the builder in Canada, Luis Feu de Mesquita. He makes very high quality instruments and especially a line of gypsy jazz style ukes, like the Selmer-Maccaferri guitar that Jean "Django" Reinhardt played in the 30s and 40s with three fingers on his fret hand.

As they are only made in very limited quantities (I think less than 50 Ukes from LFdM exist), most people will never get to play one in person, so here and here are a few videos that speak for themselves, made by the folks at HMS - or Hawaii Music Supply / The Ukulele Site, if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Thanks guys. That transposition of the letters explains why my search wasn't working. Those some beautiful Ukes. Thanks again.
